An Ode to the African Brown Skin

The beauty within

I As I stood in front of the mirror, getting ready for work, I couldn’t help but admire my reflection. At 43, my skin looked so fresh with hardly a wrinkle in sight. Honestly, I could almost pass for 25! Can you believe that? 😂✨

I decided to write an Ode to the African Brown Skin.

The African brown skin is a canvas of resilience, beauty, and an untold history of strength. For centuries, it has been overlooked, its richness misunderstood, its depth underestimated.

In early years, many called it dirty, unable to see the splendour of its hues or the history it carries. But the truth, unyielding and eternal, rises above ignorance. This skin, so fine and lustrous like molten bronze, glows with a brilliance that no words can fully capture. It is a treasure, sculpted by time and kissed by the earth.

It defies the passage of time, as though it holds a secret pact with eternity. The African brown skin does not wither; it evolves, growing finer, more refined, as it ages. Like fine wine, it matures gracefully, bearing the marks of years not as burdens but as badges of endurance and wisdom. Lines that crease the face become stories etched into its surface, reminders of laughter, tears, and survival.

Under the unrelenting rays of the sun, the African brown skin stands resilient. It absorbs the warmth, refusing to burn, a testament to its fortitude. Yet, when the sun kisses it, oh, how it shines! It reflects the light like a mirror to the heavens, gleaming with a glow that seems almost divine. This is skin that radiates life, light, and strength.

It hides scars, those silent witnesses to the toil, pain, and struggles of its bearers. Yet, these marks do not mar its beauty; they are stories of battles fought and won, challenges overcome, and journeys endured. Beneath every scar lies a tale of triumph. And still, the brown skin shines through, as though it refuses to be dimmed by life’s trials. It stands tall and proud, a beacon of beauty that cannot be dulled.

The African brown skin is not just a covering; it is a symbol of history, culture, and identity. It holds within it the warmth of ancient suns and the strength of generations who have walked the earth with pride. It is beauty personified, enduring and unyielding, timeless and radiant. To see it, to truly see it, is to witness a masterpiece, a creation that tells of a legacy too grand to be ignored.
