Things we take for granted

It looks like the summer is almost gone, I hardly saw the sun, the sun only came out to play 2 weeks and we are back to some sort or cold, not the winter cold but cardigan cold.

Walking down to the train station at the same time everyday, I see the same set of people, the man in a camo jacket, lying down on the bench, the pregnant black lady that cleans the university, the old security guard that just finished his night shift, the black guy with the dredlocs that likes to sit in the first cabin, and the white guy in a suit trying to tuck is big belle inside his trousers.

It is so easy to get used to the everyday scene, the same people, the same train, the same smile, you wake up and you inhale and exhale, you jump into the bath, do the same routine…. sometimes we take it for take it for granted, we take the little things for granted, we take sun and the air for granted, we take the smile and the laughter for granted, we take growing old for granted….

while on the train ride to the station, my mind drifted to the all the things I have taken for granted, the ease of a smile, the light banter, the hot sunny Lagos, the friends that want to say hello, the family that loves me……

I smiled because I am glad it is another day to smile.. and thank God for those little things I take for granted….
