Working in Lagos can actually take a toll on you, after close of work, people with my kind of temperament are rushing home to get enough rest for the next day, some other people stay back in the office till the rush hour traffic dies down and some other people go to the pubs to drink or the cinema to watch a movie to kill time for traffic to subside.
When I was big on exercise, it always baffles me to see people in the Ikeja country club on weekdays and I keep wondering “what the hell are they doing there” go home and rest for the next day……
Been in Manchester for close to 7months now and they find it strange when I say I am going home after work… how can you go home? What will you be doing? It is so funny but I have gone out during weekdays with my colleagues and guess what? I didn’t die…. I got home and slept same time I would have slept if I went straight home so my advice to myself….
Charity Live a little…. go out after work sometimes, drink with friends, go and eat suya with good colleagues sometimes…,,
So another thing I noticed in Manchester is they all have their holidays planned, they know the different public holidays and they take 2days before or 2 days after and jettison to a weekend getaway…
In Nigeria, when they say public holiday, it is time to sleep or clean or go to owambe, now I have learnt something good, planning to rest and live my life a little…
There are good tours planned around Nigeria, Social prefect tours,Irinajo tours and so many more, weekend getaways, at least plan one quarterly to coincide with a public holiday, Avienti by Shade can plan something outside Nigeria on a budget, so many beautiful places along the Coast in West Africa…
Don’t just live to work but live life a little…
Yours sincerely
