Responsibility

I woke up this morning tired, like all mornings for the last three months. The feeling of not wanting to get out of bed to start the morning, the wishing that the weekends were longer, the longing for more pillow hugging and cosy bed wrap. When I decide to get out of bed finally, I want to lounge and Netflix or do whatever I want, but the jolt of “Mummy” brings me to my feet faster than any lounging or sleeping.

Responsibility is that burden we carry as we grow up. We are accountable and responsible for our time, our money, our feelings, our decisions, and so much more. You cannot blame anyone else for all these things; you cannot say like Eve, ‘the snake made me do it’ Being a responsible grown-up is so much work, but we cannot undo it. It comes with age.

Being responsible is also a choice; you choose to be accountable, and you decide to take responsibility for your actions or inactions. Responsibility is a huge burden we all must carry; however, the load can be light if you make the right choices.

The yoke of being responsible stresses me, to be honest, but when I think about the legacy of my name and what I want to be remembered for, I have to think seriously about being responsible; I want my daughter to be proud of the choices I made in my life.

As you go about today, ask yourself before taking that decision, is it the responsible thing to do?

Have a great week ahead.
