Sitting in the cinema chair waiting for Fast and Furious 8 to start, my mind goes back to my morning..
Got to Audacious church in high spirits, being quite awhile I have felt anything but horror on sunday thinking about Monday going to meet a racist boss (story for another day) . After service, I got an uber to the cinema as part of my sunday ritual, the uber driver, an Indian elderly man asked me after all the pleasantries, “what did you learn?” I paused and I started my understanding of Pastor Glyn Barret’s sermon..
Sometimes we are filled with so much life throws at us, worry, anxieties, longing, terrible relationships that leaves us unfulfilled, God wants us to empty ourselves so we can be fulfilled…
Pastor Barret took his text from 2nd Kings 4:1-7,
The widow was asked what do you have? She said nothing, her husband left her filled with pain, worrying, debts..
The man of God asked her to reach inside her, empty herself and she found oil… and empty jars till there was no more jars to fill….
Words of our mouth, when we say it is over, it is… always remember to speak positively. She asked for more jars and her son said there is no more empty jars left and the oil stopped, perhaps if he has said wait, let me ask neighbours if I can get more jars, the oil would have continued flowing.
When I was done, the elderly Indian driver nodded in agreement.
Pastor Glyn couldn’t be more right….
In order to be fulfilled we need to empty ourselves
We seek money, success, babies, life partner, security, relationships but we still yearn more, we fill our lives with these things yet we yearn…
Except a seed falls to the ground, it abides alone..
I am carrying this into my week, emptying myself and asking for the Infill of the Holy Spirit.
You can too
Yours in faith
